dual monitor maximised window issue [UPDATED]

Hi all,

I've searched and searched for answers to this question but have not come across a working solution to the problem, but I hope someone has found a solution to this problem.
I have Mint 14 cinnamon installed on multiple computers and each have a dual monitor setup. (I have setups with ATI and Nvidia cards, problem occurs with both GPUs).

My right monitor is the primary monitor (with menu panel and such).
My left monitor is the secondary monitor.

When I open an application, the application will tend to always open on the secondary monitor (left monitor) if the application was maximised the last time it was closed.
If however the application was not maximised the last time it was closed, when you open it again it will appear in the position it was when it was last closed.

It would seem as if cinnamon isn't remembering the position of the window the last time it was run if it was maximised for some reason.
It wouldn't even be that bad if the windows would open on my primary monitor by default, but when it opens on the secondary it means I have to drag it back to the primary window everytime I open an application.

I have seen a fix for changing an option in window behavior. I do not have any window behavior configuration options in settings or cinnamon settings.
I also know how to fix this issue with compiz however to my knowlege and experimentation compiz will not run with cinnamon.

If anyone can help me out or has a fix for this issue that would be great, thanks in advance.

Update:

This issue seems to occur for Firefox and Chrome in particular, I've realised that this isn't occurring with most other applications.

I have also tried gDevilspie to try and force the windows to open in a particular way but with only limited success, it seems to work correctly when opening the first time but after that it opens incorrectly.

I also noticed this: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-a ... 00013.html
it mentions this fix: "* Fix maximized windows jumping between monitors [Alban; #556696]", which I believe is the problem that I'm facing.

From what I've read mutter is the window manager in cinnamon, if this is correct, is it likely that we will see this incorporated into cinnamon in the near future, or is it more likely that we are going to have to wait for mint 15?

Again, if anyone could elaborate on this issue I would be very appreciative.

Yep hit and miss on apps opening to remember Size & Position especially on dual monitors.
That's why I left Cinnamon and went KDE as Remember Size & Position of App is built in kde.
Also allowing separate wallpapers on dual monitors. And a few other features I needed kind of pushed me to KDE.

And find and dandy with that. As had FUD between my ears being a gnome user for so long.
And considered KDE Bloated and Resource hog. Nothing farther from the truth.
Lighter & Snappier than Cinnamon was on my setup.
