transparent windows when using xrandr

Postby inckie on Sun Apr 07, 2013 3:58 am

Hi, when I reconfigure my monitor setup with xrandr (got a total of 3 montiors connected, but only 2 active at the same time), some times all the Windows becomes transparent or completely black
To fix this, I can just maximize and unmaximize the windows, then they become normal. (see screenshot, blue marking)

Also the indicator icons disappear until I restart cinnamon (see screenshot, red arrow)

If it works normally with one monitor then whatever driver you have installed for whatever video card you have installed, both of which you neglected to identify, is not comaptible with your setup.

"Works normaly with one montior" What do you mean by this?
First of all, this only happens WHEN i change the monitor configuration

My setup is this:

2x External montiors, and one laptop monitor

1x Primary external monitor (DVI)
1x Secondary external monitor (VGA)
1x Secondary laptop monitor

When I switch between active monitors, i switch between the secondaries (laptop and vga).

Commands i use when switchen to VGA monitor as active secondary:
xrandr --output LVDS-0 --off
xrandr --output DP-0 --auto --output VGA-0 --auto --right-of DP-0

Commands i use when switchen to laptop monitor as active secondary
xrandr --output VGA-0 --off
xrandr --output DP-0 --auto --output LVDS-0 --auto --right-of DP-0
