clock on panel,customize panel

My clock on the panel does not appear..have applet clicked on. Also how do you move applets to left side of panel?
Using 1.6.7

I'm not sure what is wrong with the clock, but to move items: right click on the panel and select edit mode, you should be able to move them now, right click on the panel to turn edit mode off.

I have tried that..does not appear I have enough room on left side...seems there is a way to change panel width to place icons on left...how is that done?

I'm not sure what you mean, but have you tried moving everything away from the left side first, and then move everything back in order?

when you edit mode on you will see different color for different area. now you drag and drop any item in any area easily.
