Can't start cinnamon anymore. File .xsession-errors contents is bellow.

gnome-session[2317]: CRITICAL: We failed, but the fail whale is dead. Sorry....

In my machine (and three others I checked) do not have any files named ..xsession.
Also, after starting in failsafe mode as root, I could start cinnamon executing /usr/bin/cinnamon. Steel, I can't do it as a ordinary user.
Any hints? Perhaps a file I should install in my ~/ directory or some where else.

Any hints most appreciated.

That's weird. Yes, I have VirtualBox installed. Nevertheless, in this case, it is not running. It is under Linux Mint. Linux Mint is on bare metal.
And the machine I am starting up is Mint. So, I don't even guesse why i have those virtualbox lines on the log file.

Anyway, after spending the whole night changing here and there, I brought cinnamon up and running. Nevertheless, it is so screwed up that it would be better if I had started from the begining and and have my data back from my backups.

I think I will give up and install the whole thing again. Probabily one more day of patient work.
