Hi there,
I recently restarted my laptop after having some problems with the screen freezing. When it booted back up, the themes and icons were messed up, and the terminal window was unusable. Also, the screen freezing problem I've been having persists. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?
I tried apt dist-update and apt-get install mint-meta-cinnamon

If the theme and icons are messed up it indicates cinnamon-settings-daemon isn't running. Try to run it from the terminal to see if you can catch an error message.

To use the terminal, right-click it and show the menubar, then choose Edit->Profile preferences->Colors and untick the option to use the system colors.

Also try and run "cinnamon --replace" from the terminal to see why it's failing.

In the update manager, make sure you've applied all level 1 updates and make sure the "cinnamon" package is installed.
