Weather App Problem

Postby chazdg24 on Wed Jan 25, 2012 2:20 pm

The Weather App keeps reverting back to this past Saturday. It did this in 1.1.3 and now in 1.2. It has been updated today but the problem persists. It goes back and forth which is odd. It doesn't matter if it is set to my zip code or the weather code from Yahoo. Same issue. Anybody else have this problem and a possible fix for it? Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I started a new thread as the previous issue was marked as solved.

I will hazard a suggestion which probably has absolutely NOTHING to do with the situation.

But, are you using the "four letter, four number" weather code in configure for your location?

When I used the "other codes" it would not hold anything for me.

I have a thread on Cinnamon which outlines, in one post, how to get the "four letter, four number" codes.

But, I am not a developer in any sense of the word, so my suggestion will probably NOT work and you should wait for someone more expert than i to drop by.

I am using my zip code at the moment. I have also used the Yahoo code for my area. Same issue. Not sure why it is stuck on the past weekend. :)

Hi,
there are quite a few sites and posts around the net that the zip code works when you first put it in then when you "close it" the thing fritzes.

Go to the weather channel and type in your zip code and you will get the page for the weather and in the URL the last 8 things will be the four letters and four numbers as in Boise Idaho:

http://www.weather.com/weather/today/USID0025

However if you try THE ZIP CODE for Little Rock Arkansas you get:

http://www.weather.com/weather/today/Li ... k+AR+72201

If you type in "Little Rock Arkansas" you will get a drop down with Little Rock's name click it and THEN you get the four letters for numbers:

http://www.weather.com/weather/today/USAR0336

Here is where you can get "the old numbers"

Here is a link for all the different countries codes:

@Chazdg24 I just had mine do it. It reverted back to Saturday. Are you running on a wifi or ethernet. The reason Im asking is that mine reverted because my router freaked out and I had to reset it (I'm on ethernet). Now the extension is working fine again. Its almost like it reverted back (instead of caching the current) if it cant update from its website. If your on wifi maybe your dropping the signal when its updating and thats causing it? This has been the only way i've been able to reproduce it.

No, but I think I figured it out. I changed themes and it seems to be working fine, for now. That doesn't mean it won't happen again, but for now it is working!

Older thread, I know.

I was searching a solution when I discovered this thread. I had to sign up to reply and thank you. :D

Oddly, I had recently changed my theme. I thought, "why not give it a rip?". Sure as can be, as soon as I changed it the weather app began working once more. I was originally using DarkLooks and it was working, but when I went to Unity it choked. So, I changed to "Mist" and everything's good once more. (I'm using Fedora 14 on this box). At any rate, thank you for posting what worked for you because it works for me as well. I would have never considered that.
