Problem with Cinnamon Time Applet after update today

Post by malligt »

I just upgraded the x-org, and now the Cinnamon time will not set in am/pm. It only allows 24 hr time to be chosen, no matter which/how you choose it, it will not set (example) 4:17 PM.

Open Cinnamon Settings and on the Calandar set the date format for panel(%l:%M). There is a link on that page to generate your own style date/time formats if you have trouble.

LOL
It looks as if his "ratings" might go up a tad since his server is being hit so many times that I can't get on! :) He is ranked as less than 300 hits per month.... so this is a GOOD thing! :)

Lets get back on point, if you please...

Concerning the Cinnamon desktop of Mint 12 64 bit:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

After updating (see above) today (X-org), the clock in the lower right, permanently remains in the 24 hr setting.

The AM/PM setting of the clock on other desktops (Gnome, Gnome Classic, Mate, etc.) works just fine.

You can click on the clock applet, and then "set AM/PM", but the clock remains in the 24 hr setting. I can't get it to change to AM/PM.

Did you try this in Cinnamon settings...i had the same problem when i got the latest version up date of Cinnamon...this might work for you...
http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=208&t=92738

In my case (after doing that xorg update) it remained the same...but then i had already fixed it in Cinnamon settings using the suggestion provided to me in another post and which i suggested to someone else in this post i linked for you above...

Hi malligt

Please excuse me for going off topic, I should not have done that and I apologize.

The reason for the comment though, is that I was going to try the code provided by the site and was not able to get in and should have just said that.

I still was not able to get in a short while ago.

The "date and time settings" feature within the clock isnt fully functional yet. Open cinnamon-settings to change the clock format:

Image

The settings shown will give a clock format of:

Image

The "I" gives you 12 hour format.
The "_" (underscore) before "I" removes the 0 (zero) for single digits
The "P" gives am/pm

(EDIT) lower case L ("l") works better than "_I"cap i) . and "p" gives AM/PM

Thanks Crzen, I needed help with this in Cinnamon, and was able to apply the same action to LXDE and it worked!! :D

Oh, and you can also go to this site (http://www.foragoodstrftime.com/) to create your own date formats and look at a reference for all these terms (for example, %A). It helped me a lot!
