Cinnamon with Gnome 3.4

Postby MattDobson on Thu Apr 05, 2012 3:27 pm

I want to upgrade to Gnome 3.4 but I prefer the Cinnamon shell over anything, does anyone know if there is any issues installing Cinnamon in Ubuntu 12.04?

if i understand correctly you are using precise, right?
if so, you can try cinnamon from this ppa https://launchpad.net/~gwendal-lebihan- ... on-nightly (bare in mind that those are nightly builds, usually they work alright, but...)
atm there's no stable builds for precise.

Earlier this week it wasn't possible yet, because Cinnamon is built for Clutter 1.8x and Ubuntu 12.04 has switched to Clutter 1.9x. Clem has indicated that it is already fixed but will take some finishing up before it becomes available. See here (especially the comments at the end): http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-instal ... 11-10.html

Edit: Perhaps as zerozero says this is already done :D I guess there is no harm in trying to install it; you can always select to run a Unity session from the login screen instead of a Cinnamon session.
