Functional Custom Trash Icon

I changed the trash icon using the icon's properties but the new icon isn't dynamic; it just shows whatever static image I selected (full or empty). And now I can't revert back to the theme's default that actually worked normally. The revert button (in properties) doesn't do anything and changing themes doesn't change the custom trash icon. When I manually switch to the theme's actual trash icon, it still uses a static image all the time. How can I change the trash icon and still have it work normally (dynamically)? I'm using Mint 13 Cinnamon.
