Linux Mint 14 MATE Battery Indicator color/percentage

In the new Linux Mint 14 released november 2012 the battery indicator is no longer in color when when charging. It's greyed out basically. How do I change it to a color respective to it's battery percentage? So at lower battery it will be the color red.

Another question is how do I display it as Percentage just like in Cinnamon. I like how in Cinnamon it displays both battery & percentage side by side, but I didn't give enough time to test if it's color respective.
