User Icon Sizing in MDM

LM 13 with MATE and backport repo active. I have MDM 1.0.8+maya and mint-mdm-themes 1.0.7 installed.
MDM has gone from unusually large user list icons in previous version to rather small icons in the current MDM version. I really am looking for something between. Altering MaxIconWidth= and MaxIconHeight= size values in /usr/share/mdm/default.con and/or /etc/mdm/mdm.conf produces no results. Obviously the icon size is controlled elsewhere.
Anyone know how I can alter the icon size in my MDM users list?
