Excuse me if this has been asked before, but I've been wondering if something like this is possible for the past few weeks::
Cinnamon themes seem to only change the bottom panel and menu style, however I'm wondering if it's possible to go deeper than this. I would love to take all the green in mint cinnamon and make it a light blue. This includes the icon colors, highlight colors, right click menu, checkboxes... basically all the subtle greens in mint I want to make blue while still using the cinnamon environment.
I'm pretty new to linux in general, so if you could lay out the steps for me in an easy to understand way that would be ideal
Thanks!
EDIT: Solved it, thanks.

Re: [SOLVED] Change Colors In Cinnamon
I am trying to do the same. How did you manage to do it?
Re: [SOLVED] Change Colors In Cinnamon (and Mate and xfce)
Hi,
I did a "tweak" of the Mint-X gtk theme in LM17 (the "Controls" theme in Themes > Other Settings in Cinnamon), changing the green "highlights" of the theme to blue.
The rest of the theme remains the same as the original Mint-X.
If interested in trying it, here is a download link:

If you'd like to try to do it yourself with your own color, I wrote a tutorial specific to LM17 on what I did:
http://www.mediafire.com/view/ubwn28obf ... -color.pdf
This is Part 1 - the other parts mentioned in the tutorial are not finished.*

*EDIT: October 2014
The LM17 tutorials are now finished. Part 1 has now been updated (new link below), and Parts 2 and 3 can be downloaded from the links below:

Many thanks to forum member expat_tony for testing and helping me to complete these LM17 tutorials. Thanks Tony!

Re: [SOLVED] Change Colors In Cinnamon
I too am looking forward to Mint-X-Color
But I think your tutorials are great, and I do hope you'll update the remaining two LM16 PDFs to LM17, as you have with Background Colours. After all, Qiana is going to be around for quite a while yet. I've always liked playing around with CSS files and I really would love to customise my own theme. If you need any kind of assistance (testing, say) I'd be glad if I could give it.
The LM16 instructions worked fine up until I tried to use GIMP for the /treeview files. It seems that the pre-installed version can't handle SVG files, or at least I can't make it do that.
Now I notice you're recommending Inkscape instead, so I'm installing it. But I thought I'd just ask, did you make GIMP work or have you given up on it?

Yes, you need a program to handle the .svg files, hence the suggestion to install Inkscape.
GIMP will open them, and asks to convert them to .png files. But can't edit them as .svg images.
I'll send you a PM re the unfinished tutorials
Edit: The tutorials are now finished. See this post above ^^

Re: [SOLVED] Change Colors In Cinnamon
Hi caribiz,
These mediafire links are no longer available. Can you share them again?
I'm especially interested in the LM17 tutorials for changing the controls. I basically just want to change the gray window color to fit my custom panel theme (which I customized using another of your great tutorials). But all the metacity stuff is confusing me. At the moment I'm able to change most of the window background color - everything except the very top of it. But I'd like some guidance.
Thanks! Hope you read this.

Re: [SOLVED] Change Colors In Cinnamon
Update: I found the same links on this thread, and they worked! Mediafire must have been having a problem last night.
Thanks for your tutorials. I really appreciate how basic and illustrative they are.
