First Time Conky Setup

So I was looking around for a good alternative to rainmeter for linux and I came across conky. though I am unsure how to set it up or customize it. I installed it and it was just an ugly black box with white text, obviously not what I was hoping for. Ideally I would like it to look like the right hand side of this

but also display my CPU temperature and if it's possible my HD temp.
I uninstalled it so I could ask for help from a clean slate and configure it from the beginning. According the the site that I found that screenshot on the theme (not sure if that's the right word) they are using is Conky Colors. Though the page they listed

shows a very different set-up so I wasn't sure what I need to change in the set up to get it to look like the first screenshot.
