Mintmenu/gnomenu in cairo-dock

I am using the most recent version of cairo dock glx, and everything is working well except I cannot for the life of me get the mintmenu applet, or the gnomenu applet to do anything. The applet appears in the dock, but clicking on it does nothing. I have made sure I had the latest mintmenu, and gnomenu installed. Other extras like transmission seem to work, just not the menus. I'm running an Asus 1101 netbook with the default video drivers for the gma-500.
Let me know what information I can provide to help. I haven't been able to find anyone else reporting this problem.
