[SOLVED] I cant edit the thread title because of number of char restriction.
I had to reboot/relogin for the mentioned steps in the first link below to take effect.

Unfortunately even after trying all options mentioned in the threads, if I choose compiz, the window borders disappear altogether.
I tried changing with fusion icon, and editing /desktop/mate/session/required_components/windowmanager

No effect.

Compiz effects work though if I choose compiz (3d cube etc).

So, how can I make the window borders reappear?

Mybad, I had not selected Window Decoration in the compiz menu.

Now the window borders are there, but they very unpleasant. The usual effects due to changing the border theme in the desktop settings manager do not seem to be affecting it.

Is there a way to make the window borders nicer?
