Yeah:
All my spacing is dependent on the Vibrocentric font at that particular size. For a different font, you'll have to play with all the ${voffset} and ${goto} values. Maybe drop your font size down a couple points and see where that gets you to start with.

As far as the temp sensor values, those are dependent on two packages - lm-sensors and hddtemp. Both are available in the repos.

Once you have lm-sensors installed, you have to configure it as root; i.e., sudo sensors-detect. It will ask you a series of questions.. answer 'yes' to all of them - even the last one that defaults to 'no'. After you're done, you should be able to call on lm-sensors at a terminal just by typing 'sensors' at the prompt. Since your hardware is undoubtedly different than mine and your readout will probably differ, you'll have to adjust the grep & cut values within the command. Also, I have mine xarg'd through a colorizing script to change the color of the readout depending on the value given - green for cool, yellow for mid-range, and red for hot. Unless you install that script, that segment of the command won't do anything for you and will probably cause the command to fault, leaving you without a readout. (Also, the $execpi command isn't needed and a regular $execi will suffice.)

Hddtemp is a little easier - after it's installed, you use it as simply as sudo hddtemp /dev/sdX at a terminal, where X is your drive letter. Since a sudo command won't work through Conky, you have to change permissions on hddtemp as such:

Now you can use it without sudo permissions. I also have that xarg'd through the colorizing script, so again, if you don't use it, you don't need the xarg command or the $execpi variable in Conky.

I looked at many different screenshots of Conky, both in LinuxMint and Ubuntu Forums.

I started with optimizeme last posted Conky, and went from there (Thanks!!)
I modified and did a little compiling of my own. (That's what Linux is all about, isn't it?)

I must have changed the Conky style and version I had, like 10 times, before this.
I think I have a version of Conky, that i'll stick with for a while.

I am so proud of myself . .

. . I built my own Conky from scratch.
Nothing fancy, it's simple. Only has the things I need.
Being a Linux n00bie, this took me the better part of a day.

With a lot of help from the LinuxMint and Ubuntu Forums and especially from Conky Hardcore site.

I am a little out of my depth here, I installed Conky from Synaptic, then upgraded it from mintinstall, it still doesn't show in my Applications. So i ran conky from my terminal and this is what i got:

Conky: use_spacer should have an argument of left, right, or none. 'no' seems to be some form of 'false', so defaulting to none.

Could you please tell me what it means?

Edit: Sorry about the "wrong thread", request administrators to shift it to the appropriate place as i can't delete my post. Managed to get the conkyrc from /usr/share/doc/conky/examples, gave MPD error, removed all reference to mpd in the conf, got an ugly 'something' that i would be ashamed to show in this thread. The "fatal IO error..." thing still persists when closing the application. I think i will stick with sysinfo for the moment--apologize for the intrusion, and for lacking the aesthetics to see what the fuss is all about.

Edit: Guess it was a case of 'sour grapes'. I am surprised everybody was so darned polite as to not point that out. Finally managed to plagiarize something functional from various places...

I would like point out my success in getting hddtemp to work
