How to achieve transparency in Linux Mint 12

Hi,

Is there an easy way to achieve transparency on Gnome 3 windows like Nautilus, Firefox and others apps simultaneously without using Compiz, which doesn't work and I don't want to attach it to my Mint with Gnome Classic degradation?
