Need help tweaking cinnamon

I'm trying to modify the cinnamon theme 'Minty'. I changed things a bit in cinnamon.css but it got a bit messy.
There are many things I still want to tweek, let's start by the taskbar.



how do I fix the spacing in the application bars? Their content is not properly centered. I tried changing quite a lot of parameters but to no avail.

Also, how do I get rid of the text? on those same bars?
