Yo
Using Cinnamon LMDE 15
umount -la removes /proc directory. Can't use the system after that. Requires reboot.

Re: /proc directory vanishes
No sure, but the manpage says this;
So either you have an earlier version or this is some regression in the version you have.
And it would help if you be specific about which version you have. There is no such thing as "LMDE 15"--you either have LMDE (a rolling release; as such doesn't have version numbers) or you have Linux Mint 15 (the 15th release of the main edition, having semiannual releases).
Code: Select all
-a All of the file systems described in /etc/mtab are unmounted.
(With umount version 2.7 and later: the proc filesystem is not
unmounted.)

Re: /proc directory vanishes
Thnx xenopeek for the quick reply.
I really dont know what to call this installation.
My guess is the latest Mint 15 ?? fully updated.
According to the mount man page, the -l option should show labels in the output
"-l Add the labels in the mount output."
I just wont use it. Thanks again.

Re: [Solved] /proc directory vanishes
Well, that certainly looks like you are using LMDE--Linux Mint Debian Edition. Which is a rolling release and doesn't have version numbers. Linux Mint 15 is one of the releases of Linux Mint Main Edition, which has semiannual releases, and you're not using it. So call your system "LMDE Cinnamon".
