How to make panel transparent?

Postby granul on Thu May 10, 2012 7:34 pm

Hi!

I installed Linux Mint 201204 "Debian"

How can I make the taskbar completly transparent. I tried to put it transparent but it only do a part of it because of the applets.

Thank you

I believe it depends on the theme you use. IIRC, the Shiki themes let the whole panel become transparent. At least the Shiki-Wise theme when used with Gnome 2 did. Should be the same for MATE. Try a few and see.

They're in the repos, can be installed using Synaptic.

Hi!

Still does not work, is there anything to activate in the CompizConfig?

Thank you

Hmmm, not sure on that one. I haven't used Compiz for quite a while. Sorry, that's all I have.

My solution would have been:
Right click panel -> Properties -> in Panel Properties choose Background tab -> choose Solid Colour -> Style to left (Transparent)
My Linux history: Ubuntu 10.04 - 10.10 - LMDE 201109 - UP4 My sources.list/preferences

Computers is not science. And it's not magic - it's something in between.
