How do I disable the automounting insanity?

Hi,

I use LMDE (Xfce).
How I can disable all automounts?

And yes, all options in "Settings -> Removable Drivers and Media -> [Storage]/[...]" are disabled.
I also removed the packages [hal] and [hal-info], but the USB sticks will be mounted nevertheless.

On my LMDE Xfce system, mounting of drives is performed by udisks, so you might wish to see whether it is installed and active on your system. It is configurable to some extent, but I'm not sure if it can be disabled. Removing it completely would probably make it impossible to mount drives manually on demand.
