Keyboard shortcuts - LMDE XFCE

Hello,
I'm having various problems with keyboard shortcuts which might not be connected to one another but it seemed logical to post them all at once. Here they are:
1. Every time I restart my computer the alt+shift shortcut for changing languages is "forgotten". What I have done so far is open the keyboard layout app and change the layout option to alt+shift. It's no big deal but it's kind of annoying to have to do this every boot.
2. XFCE shortcuts - I tried add some keyboard application shortcuts through the keyboard setting but some of them don't seem to work. For example, ctrl+alt+t to open a terminal or super+e to open thunar. Using the the win key to open the applications menu does work.
3. Liberoffice Writer - By far the most annoying problem: none of keyboard shourtcuts seem to work! For instance, ctrl+v, c (for copy paste), ctrl+o (for opening a doc), etc.

I'll be grateful for any help
