Undesired screen dimming in Gnome 3

I had a recent update of Debian testing (tracking testing, not LMDE updates). Since then, when my screen times out after shutting my laptop screen, when I unlock the screen, the brightness is low. I have to run

sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=FF

To get my brightness back.

I have "Dim screen to save power" unchecked on the Screen setting in the system settings, which didn't help.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this in Gnome 3.2.2.1?
