Guides for your PC Games

Postby Booman on Tue Jul 02, 2013 7:57 pm

Our site is dedicated to reviving your PC Games by getting the to run in Linux with PlayOnLinux and Wine.
I personally create most of the step-by-step guides on how to install, configure and even optimize your PC game in Linux.
My list of successful games is 60+ games and growing.

GamersOnLinux.com

I do all the research, troubleshooting and installing until the game runs! Basically saving you all the frustration.
Then I create a step-by-step guide with screenshots.

Check out some of the guides we have already published:
League of Legends
S.T.A.L.K.E.R
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Assassins Creed
Neverwinter MMO
Drakensang Online
Fallout 3
Far Cry 2
Battlefield 2 & patches
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Dark Crusade
FEAR 1 & FEAR 2
Warcraft III
Magicka
Heroes of Might & Magic
Starcraft 2
Browser Flash & Unity games
and more...

Feel free to suggest some games here in the forum and I'll see if I can get it

Nice one and a good job! :)

I prefer playing native Linux games though, but if I´d ever want to install a Windows game I´ll definitely check your site.

Cool, thanks!

Native game are growing on me too, like Brutal Legend, Gish, Lugaru, Machinarium, Psychonauts, Trine, World of Goo, Half-LIfe 2, Portal, Team Fortress 2 and Counter-Strike: Source.
But I have a HUGE collection of PC games that I'm reviving with PlayOnLinux. A lot of my older DirectX9 games are running great. Even some of my DirectX10 games still have a 9 counterpart and run fine.
its pretty neat what WineHQ's is doing!

Even in these days of consoles I've said "one day my PC games will be a goldmine"

I saw you site and you have nothing on any Sims games not even the Origianal. I mostly play native games, why because if you want Windows games, you are an evil person who should be hit with a stick. Simcity has been ported Simcity 3000 was ported, but not the rest, dam.

Unfortunately the rest of us only have Windows PC games. So why not get them to run in Linux?
Its still a good reason for us to move to Linux and finally stop giving Microsoft money just to play games.

I actually don't have any Sim Games. I have a big collection and the only thing I have that is close is Roller Coaster Tycoon.
I don't even have Civilization. Mostly FPS, RPGs and action games. I don't even have a lot of strategy games either.
But the list is improving and I'll take suggestions.

Does PlayOnLinux run on Xen? I'm running Linux Mint and Windows on a Xen hypervisor and would like to try out PlayOnLinux.

I have no idea. Maybe someone else will know.
PlayOnLinux runs on most major Linux Distro's and Mac OS X.
Thats about all I know when it comes to compatibility.

OK, thanks!

EDIT: In reply to my own questions, both PlayOnLinux and Wine install and run on Linux Mint 16 with Xen hypervisor 4.3. I'm currently trying to install some games to see if they run.

Games are one of the main reasons I still typically use Windows on desktops as opposed to Linux. I love Linux, but I love to play games, mainly older games, and have had a lot of trouble in the past.

I love stuff like Red Alert 2, Neocron, Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst, Dofus and many others and most refuse to run on Linux, or at least I haven't had success in the past.

It's a shame, but well done for doing this and I shall be checking out your site sometimes I think :)

Yes please do check out our site.
My friend Daerandin is posting guides for a lot of old games.
Our member Bladeforce claims that he has hundreds of games loaded up in Linux too.
Our goal is to help Windows gamers learn to install and play games in Linux with PlayOnLinux.
PlayOnLinux ultimately uses Wine, but makes it much much easier
