Steam - OpenGL Error

Postby killa on Wed Dec 25, 2013 3:38 pm

Hello Community,

I have a problem with my Steam-Installation on Linux Mint 16. I can run some games (like "Starbound") which obviously use OpenGL-Rendering and they run just fine
but many other games also using OpenGL (like "Team Fortress 2" or "Dota 2") dont start. When I try to launch them I get the following error: "Could not find required OpenGL entry point 'glGetError'! Either your video card is unsupported, or your OpenGL driver needs to be updated."

I use a Nvidia Graphicscard (not a High-End Model) with the proprietary driver for Nvidia cards (not the most up-to-date one, Nvidia recommends an older one).

I appreciate your help  ,

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Plese see a possibly related topic here:

(although that one is possibily more related to Bumblebee option).

Thanks for the fast support but I guess it has nothing to do with "Bumblebee" because its a very low-price graphicscard. But just I noticed that I only have about 60 FPS on glxgears. I think it should be more because on my Gaming-PC (with a Radeon HD 7950) I have like 6000 FPS.
