Question about Wine/Playonlinux

Postby DemianWR on Sat Feb 22, 2014 7:51 pm

So i want to play the game Hawken on my PC with Linux Mint 16. I found several threads to do this in the Hawken forums, such as:
https://community.playhawken.com/topic/ ... -on-linux/
https://community.playhawken.com/topic/ ... inux-wine/

However, my problem is that those rely on me having the installer file and now the game is downloaded directly from steam. Steam wont let me download it since "its not the correct platform". Do you guys have any idea of how can I solve this problem?

Thanks!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Basically you will have to use PlayOnLinux and install the windows Steam.
It actually runs really well with Wine 1.6.2 and Wine 1.7.8
I have been able to run a lot of games this way:
    Mirror's Edge
    Skyrim
    Crysis II
    Torchlight
    Borderlands
    Magicka

There are a few Steam related guides here on GamersOnLinux.com and explained in detail.

The thing to be careful about is the Windows libraries to run the game.
Libraries like directx, c++, visual studio, Dot NET Framework, etc.
