I too have the freezing bug so I'm looking forward to the fix comming out. I've had a play with this option, just something quick with minimal changes to the original.

Being a Doom fan I just like this as a log on page.

There is a zip of the files at http://indatpro.com/mdm/ but dont ask me about copyright as I have no idea where the graphics origionaly came from so this is just for ilistration.

Now where is that CIA logo I had ...

All the best.

Really cool looking login page I like it a lot. :D

And YAHOOOOOO!!!! getting tired of rebooting this thing.
I also found a problem with gimp, I started working on the second one ( a space scene with flying ships and stuff, I'm putting linux mint on a space station, NO NOT MIR lol, my own creation, so no arguements about the mir stuff lol) and noticed none of my scripts were loaded at all from the .gimp-2.8 folder and it froze gimpers trying to load the scripts which I need, frustrated to the hilt (and sorry Clem lol) I deleted all your gimp stuff and used a ppa instead with an upgraded gimpers to 2.84 and volia it works again. The only issue seem to be loading the scripts from the folder though other then that it was fine so I don't know what the heck that was about but I didn't have time to fiddle around to much with it, I use gimp 90% of my day.
Another issue I was having was switching themes in the gtk area, (mind you this was ones I made) it froze me right out and only loaded a black screen, I had to use ctl alt 1 to get in the back door and delete the .theme folder for it to load again, I been having a bad day lol.
Not sure what that was about either, I used the mint-x gtk and my own metacity and changed the names in the files as usual, it loads great and works until you try to change the gtk to something different then bam nothing works, I never tried switching the metacity first to see what would happen but just found it strange. That's never happened before. the only thing I could think of is it reads the index.theme file and does something wonky or something or maybe it was something I did wrong, but all I changed was the colors. so who knows. Maybe it's the mdm thing not sure, it's never happened before.
But am really looking forward to the new mdm :D I had to reboot about 5 or 6 times today. Not counting gimp dieing on me until I changed it.
Will be keeping my eyes open for the new one. :)

Edit:
Alrighty it's done.
I was going to add a fully animated ufo with a spacetux in it floating around but thought it would take away from the rest so I left it out.
Still keeping things simple, this one has some ships moving across the screen and some sprite sheet simple animatons in the corners.
The steampunk one I got in mind will be like my steampunk blimp city live wallpaper I made for android, it'll have more in it, and I got some other stuff in mind, including some controls where you can shoot at things and stuff, I want to make a game for android later one but I might add some of it as a mdm screen where you shoot terminator like spaceships, maybe a funny one where you fly overhead and drop bombs on a city full of window computers lol, that one might get me in trouble so I'll have to think about that one lol.
Anyhow heres a small screenshot of this one

Hey Brahim
I was scouting around and found a site you might be interested in, I noticed you do a lot of 3d stuff and if you get around to making some mdm themes this might be of interest to you. I'm not sure what it is all about (just took a quick glance) but it's all 3d stuff using a javascript engine by the looks of it.
Here's the link: http://mrdoob.github.com/three.js/
Looks like some really cool stuff, I check out a couple of them,, but I don't do 3d only 2d so it might be of interest to you.

Alright this one is done for now.
I had fun with this one :D
I converted a live wallpaper I made into this.
This one might also be good for those who want to mod it to there own stuff, I did leave some comments in the boostrap section for you (flyboy :) ) so you would know some thingss to change (there are more but this is all I needed to change for this one), I did add more stuff so it might be confusing for others who are getting started in css and animation and stuff, I tried to make things clear emough, if you have any questions feel free to ask. All the js I added is in the js folder in case your looking for it and the clock images are in the img folder (sorry I didn't get around to adding the other images in there yet) I'll start making them more neater and cleaner from now to make it easier for everyone to find stuff that mod it.
Animated moving sprites in this one:
Two Blimps and two steampunk airplanes.
I added two subways (no sprite sprite sheet) just an image that pass each other and clouds that move across the sky as well.
For those who wanted to learn, I also added an anlog clock (notice in the html I commented out the other clock id) you have to do this so it won't read it.
The clock has some css parts (added to the bottom of the theme css for easy access for you to play with (make sure you had the position, top left or right and size of the clock face part or you will get wonky results).
I also added a scale part to the tilt partin the css (it has to go where it is or it won't work, on top of the rotate part) Not sure why but it haappened to me until I put it on top of it.
Anyhow here it is

Nice.. gotta love steampunk :)

Guys, if you use copyrighted material, or if you don't want to see your theme included in Linux Mint, please highlight it to us.

I've been working on Olivia and MATE 1.6 today, so I got a bit delayed on MDM, but changes should be coming soon. I'm hoping to have everything ready by Friday (including the fix for the freezing, mdm_set_language() and support for "already logged in" and "last user who logged in").

I'm converting some of my live wallpapers over to making MDM's out of them, mainly because it's quick for me to get a few out there, the artwork is 90% done already, there mine and with all the piracy out there copyrighting my android stuff seems pointless anyhow lol. So anything I do feel free to do with as ya want to, the space one uses some ships I made in one livewallpaper.
set_language (does this mean we can change the display box? :D How about the quit, restart etc pop ups? those seem like normal javascript popups. Just looks like a big blob when against a dark background, if not that's ok.
Don't hurry the mdm, rather it be comlpete and working then rushing through and getting a buggy one.
Sam why not put a clock tower, that displays the current time
That is what I was going to do intially, make a small one in that middle building with the arches, but because it's part of the background image this means on every screen resolution it winds up being somewhere else, so it's almost impossible to fnd the proper x and y where to put the clock to line it up, unless I do it like android and scale the background come up with a ratio number to use to scale the clock and use to place the x and y at ( a big freaking headache lol) and not to sure if this can be done with this or not, I would have to make a clock tower image by itself and add it seperately to get my alignment easier (I did this with the subway bridge). I admit it would look better in the building but cutting out the building and placing it by itself also would mean it would also be at a different place from the rest of the background with different screen resolutions. Maybe on top of the login section might do. Still playing with this one.

I started a thread on how to make this stuff, when I get some time I'll add all the parts that can be changed in the css files, but for now I added how to make an animated sprite and move it around the page for everyone.
Also anyone else wanting to add some code snippets to help others would be appreciated so we can all make some really nice mdm themes :D
Here's the link: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 8&t=128396
Hope it can help some out.

We implemented the language selection today. There are also improvements in the emulator and the session selection.

There's a couple of other things I want to improve, hopefully tomorrow, before I make a new package.

Looks really good, will you be putting this in a deb like the last time for us?
I like the language choice with the flags instead, much more eye appealing then a normal list.

I will give it a shot :D But this theme needs a better splash screen as an intro :D. Actually I have made a theme that might go with this mdm theme and published at http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=157316 :D Thanks for this artwork :D
Brahim in this one you made (nice and clean by the way) that loading skewed circle you have under the logo, you should be able to animate this, I never tried it this way but I'm sure it's possible, you should just be able to use rotate and skew it using css only. I'd have to fool around myself to figure it out since I never did this, but it should work.
You can read more on this part here: http://www.w3schools.com/css3/css3_2dtransforms.asp
It should only need to move 360 degrees while being skewed, hopefully it's that easy anyhow lol.
Just thought it might look good with it.
It is a really nice piece of work.

MDM 1.1.5

Remember this is a BETA version, so if you use this on your main machine, make sure to keep a version of 1.0.8 at hand in case things go wrong :)

You can find MDM 1.1.5 at: http://build.linuxmint.com/automate/ins ... ain/m/mdm/

Changes:

In brief:

- Bug fixes
- New language selection
- Support to know if users are logged in or not

Details:

- Emulator bug fixes and support for new features
- MDM no longer calls mdm_msg to tell your theme which session it just selected (since it already knows..).
- MDM now calls mdm_add_language() and mdm_set_current_language() to tell the theme about the languages and the current language. Check https://github.com/linuxmint/mdm/commit ... d#diff-283 for changes to your theme.
- alert('LANGUAGE###') shouldn't be used anymore... alert('LANGUAGE###' +locale_code) should be used instead, to select a particular language.
- mdm_add_user has one new argument: mdm_add_user (username, gecos, status). The status indicates if the user is logged in. If he is, then status contains the translated string "Already logged in", if he isn't then status == "". Check https://github.com/linuxmint/mdm/commit ... e86#diff-1
- Freeze issues should be fixed now.

Re: MDM HTML5 Themes

Thought I'd put this up for anyone (maybe to make it easier)
What I seen different in the theme.css file

Code: Select all

.language-picture {
	width: 16px;
	height: 16px;
	margin-right: 5px;
}

.userstatus {
	font-style: italic;
	font-size: 10px;
}
For anyone who has made one already.
I know it has the difference in the github just thought I'd paste that changes here that I seen for others that might not understand the github part and to make sure I'm right.
Got some changing of some artwork to do in two of the themes top toolbar, I'm just going to use boxes in css instead and leave the back area clear since it seems to line up differently on different sizes anyhow (which kind of ticked me off and I wanted to change it anyhow, now I got an excuse to do it :lol: )
For the html I just pasted the whole script over top the of the other one (for anyone who is trying to figure out what I'm taking about I pasted all the script inbetween the <script> to </script> code for the mdm stuff) figured it was easier just to repace it all, as far as the id's in the body part I changed it to this

Code: Select all

<div class="buttons">
		<div class="btn-toolbar">
			<div  align="left" class="btn-group">
               <button class="btn btn-small dropdown-toggle" data-toggle="dropdown" title="$selectsession"> <img src="img/sessions/default.svg" title="$defaultsession" width=16 height=16 id="current_session_picture"/> <span class="caret"></span></button>
                <ul class="dropdown-menu" id="sessions">
                </ul>
            </div>
			 <div  align="left" class="btn-group">
                <button class="btn btn-small dropdown-toggle" data-toggle="dropdown" title="$selectlanguage"> <img src="img/languages/generic.png" id="current_language_flag"/> <span class="caret"></span></button>
                <ul class="dropdown-menu" id="languages">
                </ul>
            </div>
			<div class="btn-group">
				<a class="btn btn-small" href="#" onClick="alert('SHUTDOWN###');" title="$shutdown" id="shutdown"><i class="icon-off"></i></a>
				<a class="btn btn-small" href="#" onClick="alert('SUSPEND###');" title="$suspend" id="suspend"><i class="icon-download-alt"></i></a>
				<a class="btn btn-small" href="#" onClick="alert('RESTART###');" title="$restart" id="restart"><i class="icon-refresh"></i></a>
			</div>
			<div class="btn-group">
				<a class="btn btn-small" href="#" onClick="alert('QUIT###');" title="$quit" id="quit"><i class="icon-ban-circle"></i></a>
			</div>
			<div class="btn-group">
				<a class="btn btn-small" href="#" onClick="alert('XDMCP###');" title="$remoteloginviaxdmcp" id="xdmcp"><i class=" icon-share-alt"></i></a>
			</div>
		</div>
	</div>

	<div id="users"></div>

I know I didn't have to do it all but I figured it was easier to just copy paste the whole section where there was the odd change then pick through it since I didn't change anything in this area anyhow except a couple one liners parts.
Also if you want to change the default image in the first dropdown button it's in the folder img/session/ and named default.svg.
I don't know what to change this to maybe just a mint logo or something or an S for sessions, haven't checked in the login yet to see if it appears but I'll change it in mine anyhow, a blank box doesn't tell anyone what that button is for, please let me know if I missed anything or got it right or not so I don't mess anyone else up.
Also make sure you copy paste the language folder in the img folder or no flags will appear.
Thanks for the update Clem it looks nice.
I'll add a post here when I do all the changes to the themes I made already for anyone who has downloaded them already so you can get the updated version, I just might take the weekend off for once :wink: and take a break first.

Hi, I tried to make an MDM HTML5 theme, and my <canvas> displays in the emulator, but not in the login screen. Anyone have any idea why? I have attached the theme archive.
