I did my first proposal. I had to use the font Aller because I can not download any of the Internet. My internet connection is limited and I can only access certain sites. So I have no access to 99desings.com

I dented this on Identi.ca to the !mint and !lmde groups. I also dented it to the !ubuntu group for those there who may be interested. Perhaps this will help get the word out to artists.

What a pity!! I really love the actual logo... Will be possible to maintain the logo (in the personal computer I mean, some option to change the logo in the system installed in our computers).

If I must to choose between the actual candidates... I prefer in this order:

3º Devender S.
2º rohaan03
1º elav (the guy that cannot navigate to the competition web)

The elav first logos (called mintmenu_v1) look great!!

Anyway... I love the actual one!!!

I would like to know a little more information about this personally. Why is Clem wanting a new logo? What direction is Linux Mint taking? Who is eliminating the current logos when there is still 5 days (at time of writing) left for the competition?

I've seen so far some very nice logos that were eliminated and not exactly sure why. They are original, and some are very professional looking. What exactly is Clem looking for so all the people submitting ideas can know what to aim for when creating their logo? There was no description as to what, so everyone is aiming in the dark. I won't attempt to try making one until I know a little more detail as to what Clem is looking for.

I worked a little more in 2 of the proposals I made earlier, since they are the most widely accepted have had. I was reading the comments of some people agree with them in many ways.

To begin typography Ubuntu substituted by another custom. I put a little more spin to the images and placed them so as to see in its different variants.

It is true that the logo of Linux Mint is nice, just as it is, but makeover could do with. However, personally, I work on the current logo to see if I can think of something new.

It would also be interesting to know if the logo of Linux Mint is the same for each variant (Example LMDE, LM KDE) or each have its own logo.

Oscar brought this thread and your questions to my attention. Sorry, I lacked clarity here... and this is more of an internal thing than anything else. I mentioned it on Twitter because I wanted to leak it to the community, to give artists a chance to join in... but I didn't blog about it, because basically there's no real decision to change the logo at this time.

Let me explain...

The look of our website, blog, forums and especially the look of our community website, is outdated and needs to be changed. So I'm preparing to start contests for a new overall look for our websites. This is something we want to do and which will happen soon. Before doing all this, it's important to finalize our logo. I'm really happy with our current logo but I find it lacks some contrast and border definition. I'd like something that comes out more, that is more noticeable .... even if that means keeping the exact same logo and slightly improving on the borders. Since we have this in mind, we may as well look for alternatives. I've no intention of changing the logo, but if there's something great out there, that looks completely different, then why not? Let's keep an open mind. With all that in mind I started a contest for the logo. If it turns out none of the logos out there make for a good replacement, we'll continue with the logo we're using at the moment. If that's the case, we'll tell people but we'll still appoint a winner anyway. We won't waste anyone's time, if we get nothing we like, we'll assign a winner, if we get the same logo but improved with better borders, we'll be delighted, if we get another logo that's even better than ours, then we'll be delighted as well.

Good morning.
I agree with many of the users of this forum: LinuxMint current logo I love it. However, I did some variations that maybe they can please everyone. I have yet to make proposals for Xfce, Fluxbox and LXDE, but more or less follow the same line.

So they look. If you click on the image will see a higher resolution and higher quality.

I forgot to tell you that it is a good idea, the logo of each variant of Linux Mint, has his own image, as Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, etc. .. What do you think?

"Staying true to the green mint feel, my idea is kind of an M-shaped leaf.
Easy to recognize in a lot of different sizes and againt a lot of different background colors and patterns.
Personally I'm not to happy with the 'int' lettering, I personally prefer just the logo."

@Clem: I have to agree with tenfoot. I've used troken's avatar as the Mint logo on Mint Main since Mint 9. I think it looks sleek and elegant, and without borders. It's on the Menu button in this screenshot from December 2010:

Thanks for your support tdockery97. To me it has everything: a nice stylised "L" and "M" and the whole in the shape of a mint leaf. I like the particular shade of green, too.
