Hello,
I hope this is the right place for this. I've been a Mandriva user for many years. I recently decided to give Mint a try, so I installed it on an extra hard drive I wasn't using. The install went well, but I had a very difficult time configuring my monitor. I have an Nvidia GeForce GTX285 and lcd monitor. The monitor was not detected correctly, I only had the options of 320x240 or 640x480. I searched for several hours and followed the advice I could find, but still could not increase the resolution. I finally copied over the xorg.conf file from my Mandriva partition. It now works perfectly. With Mandriva, even if the monitor is not detected, I can use a utility to set it manually. I think the Mint distro would greatly benefit from a similar utility and I hope you will consider adding it.
Thankyou
