recurring donations

I have donated to many non-profit organizations and community projects and the ones that especially catch my attention are the ones that are smart enough to recognize that some people are willing to make small recurring donations each month automatically. I believe that automatic recurring monthly donations will ultimately bring in more funding than the current single-donation signup.

Recurring monthly donations is known as sponsoring, and you can set up your sponsorship here: http://www.linuxmint.com/sponsors.php

Thanks for considering to sponsor Linux Mint! Awesome

Note that with very small payments PayPal takes the full amount as fee for their services (for each transaction PayPal keeps up to 3.9% of the transaction amount + a fixed amount dependent on the currency used, but at least $0.30). So if by small recurring donations you meant a few bucks, a once per year donation for the total amount would contribute more to Linux Mint.

the default value was something over $3000 I assumed that there was a minimum contribution. the fact that its called a "sponsorship" has implications of a special arrangement, like advertising. that is usually how sponsorships work.

may I suggest a more common approach?

Using radio buttons select a donation amount of $10, $20, $50, $100, or $1000, and a final option of entering in your own amount into a text box.

As you can see in the list of gracious donors and sponsors, most sponsorships average 10 dollars per month: http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2051
