Mint Installer SSD Detection

The Mint installer could use an option or checkbox that lets users specify whether a disk is SSD or not. Ideally, the disk would be auto-detected as an SSD, but I'm not sure if that's possible so the manual option would be nice.

Doing this will allow the installer to turn on some optimizations by default. e.g. Automatically adding "discard" to the /etc/fstab.

discard depends on TRIM support, which could be detected automatically. (See my SSD optimize tips http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 03#p461796.) I think the challenge is the Ubiquity installer that is being used is not very flexible or easy to adjust for such things.

Aww, that's a shame. Perhaps it can be implemented as a pre/post installation script or something.
