Hey there...

Yeah, I liked the Hot Corner menu better in Linux Mint 12, and I'm very sorry, that the Hot Corner menu has been reduced in 13 & 14..

Which puts me in quite a dilemma, because that I like the Hot Corner in LMGE 12 so much, that I am contemplating installing LMGE 12 instead of 13/14... But I like the start menu in 14 and the newer kernel for better hardware support...

I think the best would be Linux Mint with Cinnamon from Linux Mint 14 and fav bar & search bar & app overview in Hot corner from Linux Mint 12...! So that would be a plead to the developers...! PLEASE BRING BACK THE LINUX MINT 12 HOT CORNER...!! :)

I second that !

I originally installed Linux mint 12 as I felt that Ubuntu had become horrible to use.
Linux mint 12 saved me and I found that the Hot Corner in 12 was "just right" - very close to perfect.
I thought I'd try it out until Ubuntu came to their senses again.
Recently, as Linux Mint 12 is getting rather old, I thought it might be time to upgrade.
I decided to see what was around. Tried Ubuntu (who had not come to their senses yet), Linux mint 13 and Linux mint 14 before going back to 12 again.
The Hot Corner is the reason. I really want it. All other implementations *totally* suck.
Unfortunately, 12 will be EOL in April and I'm desperately trying to find a way to keep the Hot Corner.
If there's no interest in getting the 12 Hot Corner back, then perhaps someone who knows could point to where the source is located ?

Linux Mint 12 used Gnome Shell with the Mint Gnome Shell Extension (MGSE). I don't have Linux Mint 12 installed any more, so can't check if this hot corner behavior was from Gnome Shell or from MGSE. Perhaps somebody will know. The source code of MGSE is here, should it prove that MGSE implemented the hot corner behavior you preferred: https://github.com/linuxmint/MGSE

Note that this code will no longer work with more recent Gnome Shell versions, as the Gnome Shell developers keep breaking external interfaces making the code of MGSE outdated.

The Hot Corner in Mint 12 was the standard Gnome Shell overview, so if you want this back, simply install gnome-shell and log into the session "GNOME" from the login screen. There is no chance of it "coming back" to a default Mint session.

MGSE wasn't something separate from gnome-shell, it was just gnome-shell with a few extensions activated by default.

Thanks bimsebasse :)

Here is a topic with some more information on installing Gnome Shell on Linux Mint 14: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 80#p666148
