Hi! I'm gonna make a suggestion. I was trying to run Diablo3 on Mint, but the FPS were horrible, so I searched for a solution, and a user on the battle.net forums suggested to install the Liquorix kernel, and it worked for me. Since I didn't found any problem using it but a improve of general performance, why aren't the changes on main Linux? If not, the (great) developers of Mint (or Ubuntu) can add at least some of the changes.

This Liquorix Kernel is not a mainstream kernel developed and maintained by the people behind this site: http://kernel.org/. The Liquorix Kernel is a private project run by Linux enthusiasts. You're free to use this kernel at your own risk ofcourse, but it will never be a mainstream kernel. Another disadvantage of this kernel is that it is not maintained by http://kernel.org/ meaning it won't be updated.

The website of Liquorix doesn't reveal much about the kernel, there's no FAQ or support. To me this kernel looks like a "plug and pray" kernel. But if you notice some improvements, that's always good ofcourse!

Well I know it's not a mainstream kernel, thats why I'm asking why aren't the changes in Liquorix in the mainstream one. I made some "research" and found that the reason the changes in Liquorix aren't in the mainstream Linux (as well as Con Kolivas one) is because it affect the performance on servers, but do the opposite thing on desktops wich is the primary target for Linux Mint. I think the Linux Mint programmers can put some of the changes in a Mint own kernel.

Well, it's only a little suggestion since I'm not very much into kernel things.

BTW: It would be awesome if the workspace switcher applet shew the windows appearing in each workspace, like in the old school gnome. It's usefull to a person like me who is constantly changin between them. If this last thing is implemented I'll be pleased of making a donation of 20$

At least in games, yes, it's huge. Diablo3 went from totally unplayable (3/5 fps) to playable (20/25 fps), other games also can have a performance improvement, but not so huge but noticiable. I also noticed a little a lower CPU demand generaly and a little more watching HD videos.
