Linuxmint Devs and Compiz ??

Ive seen quite a lot of disturbing posts about compiz dying and sam being a single lone soul working on compiz at the request of ubuntu guys ...

Surely its in the best interest of Linuxmint dev's that this project not die ? I mean you guys are actively working on mate and compiz is a big part in making mate glamerous ... 99% of mate users run compiz im sure. If Compiz dies mate will become alot less glamurous.

The last few versions of compiz has actively seen plugin after plugin being removed with just the main plugins being supported currently.

So my question is this, Why dont the Linuxmint Crew get in touch with Sam and reach out and start helping on the project ? surely you can spare a dev to look into assisting work forward on compiz ? Its in everyone's best interest. I just dont understand why everyone just stands idly by and watches that project slowly dying when it will have a big impact on quite a few distributions, including mint.

why? cinnamon is not even compatible with compiz. as for mate, compiz is (as always was back with gnome2.x) an addition.

squashing bugs, improving the code and adding new features yes, is worthwhile work in mate, as for the percentage: links?

because at the moment compiz is a project made for unity and some features are useless there :P

ahh btw  there's a compiz fork here >> http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 4613&f=217 maybe you can help?

well its great that they are forking compiz. but without a working 32bit version its kinda useless at the moment. ive spent an hour trying to sort through errors to try and get 32bit version built and working. I hope they get that sorted, Once i have it up and running and have a look around i may just dig in and see where i can help.
