Mepis has a very nice installer - it was some time since I installed Mepis so I only remember that it was at lest OK
Use Mepis installer instead of Ubiquity?

Re: Use Mepis installer instead of Ubiquity?
Hi Husse,
Is the code easily accessible? I couldn't find it while looking for installers for the Debian Edition.
Clem.

Re: Use Mepis installer instead of Ubiquity?
I read a long rant on the Mepis home page about GPL ....
This is what I find
http://www.mepis.org/source
They charge for the source code....
I also read that there are changes in Ubuntu 8.10 and the installer

Re: Use Mepis installer instead of Ubiquity?
The Mepis installer is very nice. The only drawback (for some) is that there is only a provision for /boot, /home and swap. No /var, /usr, or /temp on even a custom install. Of course, those can be separated out after the install. Their Grub is very kind to other distros (no uuid problem for the last Mint install ).
p.s. I'm sure Warren would be willing to bargain with you guys over the price of the source code.

Using Mint as primary OS since 2006.
Re: Use Mepis installer instead of Ubiquity?
Warren is not very good as far as communication skills... The Mepis installer is very good but I would rather we stick with what we have. The Ubuntu developer's will be working on the installer for Intrepid, hopefully they can work out the bugs.
No offense meant to any Mepis user's but I have never once seen Warren post on the mepislovers forum. The source code for the Mepis tools was supposed to be made available to the Mepis Community and this never happened either.Mepis is a good distribution but the source code for the installer will probably never be made available to the public.

Well, that breaks GPL doesn't it?but the source code for the installer will probably never be made available to the public.
Re: Use Mepis installer instead of Ubiquity?
that would break gpl. if one perhaps mentioned it to him, well who knows
