I suggest to add PeaZip package to mint repository because default Ubuntu and Debian don't include it.
PeaZip supports ton of archive format and has many features which are not supported by default in most Linux archive softwares (ex. compression ratio)
PeaZip already available as deb package for Gnome & KDE based desktops in [url=http://peazip.sourceforge.net/peazip-linux.html]this link[/url] so I think adding it wouldn't be a big deal. Does it?

Apart from zip files, it doesn't offer any more support than the standdard linux archiver provided with mint releases
--and for zip if you wanted 7zip archiver, because you may be used to its methods, there is one 7zip directly avilable on Linux

Good suggestion but it's very basic and simple while PeaZip supports many of features which are not available in B1 Archiver but don't forget that B1 Archiver isn't open source while PeaZip is!!!Just one of the options available

OK, I just read that the peazip Gui wasn't so hot..
However, I usually use the GUI archiver(s) if they work
--but I don't object to using a terminal when required, such as when I use apt, instead of the GUI package managers.
One thing I have noticed about GUI apps, is that they always seem slower than terminal apps, even though the graphic card support is there to presumably run them effectively
--so for example midnight commander (ncurses based) is quicker than Gnome commander (even if it looks better, being a GUI)
I do take note of your points..
To me it doesn't matter much one way-or-another what is or isn't being included as a default selection in any Linux distribution: I always customize it in every case: but suggestions are good.
