New version of Poppler is required in New Mint version

Post by ssliz »

Dear Friends,
Here is the link to my (resolved to some extent) bug report:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1390536
The dry residue is: The version 0.24 of Poppler supplied with Ubuntu 14.04 is defective, the newer one 0.26 or 0.28 (supplied with Ubuntu 14.10)
works fine.
I have seen posts that Mint is going to stick to Ubuntu 14.04 for future releases. So, I strongly suggest that Poppler should somehow be updated
in new Mint release. It would be fantastic if this could be done in the current version with standard update.

Best wishes,
Sergey

I thought I'd give it a try to see if poppler from Utopic could be installed on Trusty base. Eh, there's rather a lot of poppler packages :( http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywo ... ection=all

Hello, Sergey.

Are you sure that you have got the recent poppler version installed which is available for Mint 17 (Ubuntu 14.04): poppler 0.24.5-2ubuntu4.1?
poppler (0.24.5-2ubuntu4.1) trusty; urgency=medium

* debian/patches/git_hint_table.patch:
- backport git patch to fix pdf parsing issues (lp: #1377695)

Or has it got to be an even more recent version really?

Kind regards,
Karl
