Suggestion: Photography software

Post by JohnH »

Hi there,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to suggest this, but I would like to see three more photography packages added to the Mint Install Software Manager.

1) Geeqie is a viewer that is linked or can be linked to other picture editors. Unlike the current software listed, it handles RAW images (big picture files used by professionals). It is in fact a fork GQview (listed in Mint Install Software Manager) which now seems to be not maintained (latest stable 2006). My suggestion is to include Geeqie in place of GQview. http://geeqie.sourceforge.net/

2) Fotoxx is also an image view with an increasing number of tools to allow manipulation of images in all kinds of ways. It imports RAW images. This is a rapidly developing package and it is well worth watching and including in the Mint Install Software Manager. http://kornelix.squarespace.com/fotoxx/

3) GTKRawGallery is a an image organiser for those who do a lot of work with RAW images (most professional digital photographers). Like all good image viewers and organsier, it allows the photographer to read the metadata that comes with each image. I got my version from removed.

I look forward to seeing these good packages could be included.

Best regards
John
