I believe this problem is common to many Toshiba laptop users.
It is the issue of the CPU fan not working properly. It fails to come on until the thermal sensor trips the fan to come on, then it won't turn off until Hibernate or Shutdown. Then the whole loop begins again.
I found a couple of threads with a workaround involving loading a HP Omnibook module and making some edits to the file, but this then seems to cause the laptops to turn themselves on spontaneously. This obviously isn't good or desirable.
Is it possible to provide an updated driver for Toshiba laptops some time in the future to address the CPU cooling fan issue? Is this the proper place to raise the question?
Really like Mint but have one problem

Re: Really like Mint but have one problem
Xena,
I know that Dell laptops had some fan issues, but Dell issued a bios fix for linux.
Maybe Toshiba has done this, too? check their website for a bios update.
God Bless

Thanks Doug, that was a good thought. I checked and there is no Bios update available.
