there are several ways to do this, but it is not really a feature request for mint IMHO. The best way to do this would be to use xDVDshrink, available through automatix (although not, I believe, through the repos), or my new favorite, k9copy. Another option would be to run dvdshrink (the windows program) under wine, which seems like a less elegant way to do things, but, if you just gotta have your shrink, I can personally assure you that it does work. You can also use CLI tools but this is a MAJOR pain- this is one area that i really recommend you grab a mouse for.
to get k9copy, just open up synaptic and search for k9copy. to get xDVDshrink, get Automatix from http://www.getautomatix.com/apt/dists/feisty/main/binary-i386/automatix2_1.1-4.9-7.04feisty_i386.deb
and open it with gdebi, then navigate to the cd/dvd page, and check the box.
To get dvdshrink working under wine, just follow the instructions here : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DVDShrink
