).Anyway, I have discoverd MS OneNote and I am loving it, which brought me to the need in a desktop application for productivity improvement. The app is very much like the Ubuntu Netbook Edition concept of interface. The application will allow you to create a number of tabs on your desktop. Within each tab will be linked to a folder that you use often - almost like virtual desktops, only this is a filing system. I wanted to install Netbook Edition on my laptop specifically for that reason (yet here I am
).Does anyone know if there is such a application out there for linux? I loaded Stick on XP Pro, and although it does work its clunky in that each tab needs to be set, the slide-out doesn't really work, and the placement of the tabs isn't really fixed - it needs polishing though she software isn't supported anymore.
Thing is as I have seen with Windows, when it works in LInux, somehow it finds its way to Windows either as a new application of the open source community porting it. Wish MS Office was ported
.Just a thought for all you software developers out there who thrive on creating software - I think it will be a REALLY useful productivity improvement for the PC - using the desktop for a wallpaper or stacking icons on it just isn't on for me anymore. I think Win7 has some kind of desktop icon grouping method, which is nice, but I like the Netbook way better where you still have a wallpaper, but the tabs are semi transparent covering 80% of the desktop with tabs all round, like the view you get when using MS OneNote - only transparent.
P.S. If I have time I might create a little graphic of my desktop with a "Desktop Tab" system.
