I suggest a port of Linux Mint for the PS3.
By these instructions (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Ubuntu-7 ... 3272.shtml) I can install Ubuntu 7.10 (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/custom/20071115-gutsy-ps3/) on my PS3. . I really would like to do the same thing with Linux Mint, but there is no PowerPC port for mint that i can find.

Re: Linux Mint Port to PS3
Mint doesnt even have a 64bit version never mind a PPC version. Sorry!

I would love it too. I install Mint on everything I get my hands on... my new EEE PC included.pipboy wrote:oooh Mint for PS3 would be SO awesome
Hopefully the next get consoles will have 2 to 4 GB of ram so we won't have to worry about a sluggish OS. Either that, or we need a real small minimalistic distro that's just for surfing the net on the PS3. Pretty much a PPC distro with just Firefox, Pidgin, and other networking apps, along with Joe Window Manager (JWM) for the GUI.

You could prolly Mint-ify the PPC version. I don't know how how Python works under PPC, but if it is the same commands, you could use the Mint tools on an Ubuntu machine.
