I have installed Linux Mint 11 and 12 on multiple computers, all with SSDs as at least the root disk. Both SATA II and SATA III. From brands like Intel, OCZ, Crucial. Never had any problem with it getting autodetected (it is just a SATA device after all) or using auto partitioning.
Seems, like there are specific brands or models with which there are problems--possibly also when used with a specific motherboard or chipset.
Generally, there isn't a problem. Would be good if there was a place (like [urlhttps://friendly.ubuntu.com/]Ubuntu Friendly[/url] website) where any negative experiences with specific hardware and Linux Mint could be listed and searched. So as to be able to avoid those brands when buying a new computer.
