Suggestion: fix show-stopping bugs!

Coming from Ubuntu, I am used to the fact that serious bugs are either not fixed or that it literally takes years. Somehow I had the impression that the Mint developers do a better job, but I begin to have my doubts. Take this bug for an example:

The installer crashes when attempting to install with an encrypted home directory in Mint 12. Opened in November, confirmed by about 20 people, still unassigned. This is a bug that will cause people to throw away the Mint Install disk in frustration and install something else. Please take QA more serious.
