Just to make it perfectly clear, the package you are upgrading is python-apt, not software-properties-gtk. If you upgrade python-apt to merlwiz79's version and install software-properties-gtk (or kde), you should now get the familiar repository menu from Synaptic. It worked fine for me.

Hi guys, I'm having some issues with this. First off, I enabled the community repo but then if I try to apt install python this is what I get:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
python-apt is already the newest version.
E: Couldn't find package software-sources-gtk


Any ideas? I see software sources in the menu but it literally does nothing (not showing in system monitor) and now I cannot get back into my repo list from synaptic.

Help?
