Software suggestions for the repo.

Postby merlwiz79 on Mon Mar 30, 2009 4:56 pm

Post your suggestions here so it's easy to find.
Depending on how much time I have and the dependences, I'll try to make a package.

I would like to see shoes2. ubuntu repos has a much older version of shoes. Here is a link to where the source can be found.

http://shoooes.net/downloads/

it has a plain script..shoes.run. but it would be nice to be able to pull it directly from the repos

Could I recommend the latest release of the 2d shooter Teeworlds? as Ubuntu jaunty still uses 0.4.3-3 where as the latest release is 0.5.1-2

I would suggest OpenAstro from www.openastro.org. They have versions for Ubuntu 9.04 i386 and amd64 that I am using on Linux Mint without any problems at all. I am an Astrologer, and as such can tell you that it is a very useful program for producing charts with a wide range of options available.

Citrix ICA Client - I'm not aware of any distro providing this, and there are LOADS of companys out there that uses citrix connections to their own cloud.
It would be nice to have it installable as a menu entry, or installed by default, that would surely attract a lot of potential business users.

For KDE, the YASP and YAWP plasmoids.

If I can't get both of those to run in my KDE distro I find another distro that can.

I had to compile both for Mint and it wasn't easy.

Thanks

It'd be nice for someone to post the most up to date and unrestricted FFMPEG as it never seems to be able to work properly with MP3s, FLVs, etc.

Hulu has just been released for Linux! This is a Huge win for Linux IMHO and the 9.04 'buntu version should be added to the community repo.
They'll all look at me and say,
Hey look at him! I'll never live that way.
But that's okay -
They're just afraid to change.

Driver for realtek 8191/8192 wireless cards - rtl8192se_linux_2.6.0015.0127.2010.tar.gz
I have a Toshiba T135 with this card, and the new Linux Mint 9 RC is the only version of Linux that I have been able to get working with ANY version of Linux, and only with this driver installed. [It does not work for me on any of the others - Ubuntu, SUSE, Puppy (.pet)]
Lots of complaints all over the net about getting Linux working with this series - would be nice to see Mint make it more readily available.

Hi,

I think it would be nice to update Deja Dup (backup tool) to the latest version. Probably the latest version fixes a bug of current version in repos. It gives you an error and stops backing up.

If this is not the place to post this request, please tell me where I can do it. This is my first post on this forum.

Thanks.

I would like to second this. The Citrix Web Client is a tool I use almost daily and, in most distros, it's a royal pain to get working. Would love to see this offered in the repo.

Cover thumbnailer is a real eyecatcher in nautilus: http://software.flogisoft.com/cover-thumbnailer/en/
The .deb files work great with Helena and Isadora.
