Removing suspend option

Postby leke on Sat Jan 02, 2010 6:08 am

Hi, my laptop can't seem to come out of suspend. I have to long press the power key to come out of this mode (which shuts down the machine in an none too healthy way I guess).
I could of course just not press it, but I have this 4 year old who uses it a lot (it's his machine really) and he always insists of closing the machine via suspend.
So is there a way to remove the suspend option? I've been through some of the preferences, but can't find anything about it.

Thanks.

You are in luck. Because you are using Mint7 this is quite easy to do - for some reason I don't know, it doesn't work in Mint8.

First you need to install Ubuntu Tweak. It might be in the package manager I am not sure but if not you can get it here:

http://code.google.com/p/ubuntu-tweak/

Make sure to get the .deb file.

Once installed, start the program and go to System/Power Management then untick the boxes for 'Enable Hibernate' and 'Enable Suspend' . These options will then disappear from the shut down menu options (at least they did for me!).
