Port the new mint panel to non-Gnome distros?

Postby Nick_Djinn on Sun Nov 13, 2011 3:53 pm

Would it be possible to port the new Mint menu for gnome to a non-gnome3 desktop environment? I was thinking Bodhi Linux for a nice light weight distro, or LXDE.

If not, is there a reason why I couldnt port the XFCE panel to E17 as a second choice? How would you do that?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

The new Mint Menu is a GNOME 3 Shell extension and as such only works in GNOME 3 Shell. I don't think there's a Mint Menu made yet for the GNOME 3 fallback mode, and I'm not sure if that would be portable to non-GNOME 3 desktop environments.

You can use MintMenu in the XFCE edition. It installs as a panel applet (gnome applets -> mintmenu).
