Software Manager hangs at gathering information screen

I am running Lisa. Software manager used to working fine. I think it stopped working after I installed cinamon with it. I switched back to gnome and was going to use the sofware manager today and it just hangs on the gathering info screen and does nothing. I have to kill it with xkill or log off back on. I have not tried restarting gnome but I'm sure that would work as well. I have checked my python version and it is 2.7.2-7ubuntu2.
I have uninstalled cinamon using apt remove in a terminal but it still hangs.
I am at a loss now on what to try next. I'm fairly new to linux. Could someone guide me on getting this working again?
