help! I have lost my mintupdate!

I recently attempted to install Variety according to the install istructions provided on the Variety website on my mint12 ( Lisa) version. It failed to install some pakages so the entire install failed but also removed the icon for the mintupdate. On looking in Synaptic, it said it was still installed. I uninstalled it and re-installed it but still no icon at the top right. Help! How do I get it back?

Was it removed from your startup programs?
F.Y.I. the command to run it is

Not sure where to look for that in linux. I'm an ex Windows XP user and just recently started using Mint.

FYI- I ran that command in Terminal and nothing happened?


EDIT- I found the startup items and it is still on the list.

Using the search in mint I found my mintupdate and restarted it that way.
